Frequently Asked Questions

  • Paraffin wax is petroleum-derived and commonly used in candles, but it can contribute to soot and indoor air pollutants when burned.

This is why we have chosen blends that exclusively use 100% natural, plant-based, vegan waxes and scented only with pure essential oils, avoiding synthetic fragrances and unnecessary additives so you can enjoy a cleaner-burning experience that support your daily rituals, naturally.

  • Essential oils are natural plant extracts captured through steam distillation or cold-pressing. Each oil contains a complex mix of volatile plant compounds — terpenes, esters, alcohols and ketones — that contribute not only to scent, but also to how the aroma interacts with our nervous system.

Synthetic fragrances, on the other hand, are man-made chemical blends designed to mimic or create scent profiles. They can smell pleasing, but they do not come from plant materials and typically lack the naturally occurring compounds found in essential oils.

  • Whether natural or synthesized, smell influences mood because olfactory signals travel directly to the brain’s limbic system — the region involved in emotion, memory, and behaviour. This is why a pleasant scent can make you feel good or evoke a memory, even if it’s just “synthetic smell pleasure.”

  • While both essential oils and synthetic fragrances can smell nice, essential oils offer something beyond just fragrance:

    1. Active Plant Molecules
Essential oils contain many naturally occurring chemical constituents that can interact with biological pathways. For example, some studies show that inhaling lavender essential oil can lower stress markers like heart rate and support relaxation in certain settings, while citrus oils are linked with feelings of uplifted mood and alertness.

    2. Aromatherapeutic Tradition Backed by Research
Essential oils are at the heart of aromatherapy, a practice that has been studied for effects on mood and wellbeing. Some clinical research supports that certain oils — such as lavender, peppermint, rosemary and chamomile — may influence mood, alertness, sleep quality, and anxiety symptoms when inhaled in context-appropriate ways.

    3. Complexity Matters
Natural essential oils typically contain hundreds of different molecules that can work together in what some researchers describe as an “entourage effect” — a synergy where the combined action of constituents may influence how the body and brain respond. Synthetic fragrances, by contrast, often contain only a few isolated compounds chosen for scent, not holistic effect.

  • We scent our products with pure essential oils — natural plant extracts known for their complex aromatic profiles and their connection to how we feel. Unlike synthetic fragrances, essential oils offer more than scent alone, supporting a calmer, more intentional ritual.

  • This is a natural and expected characteristic of luxury candles made with natural waxes and essential oils.

As the candle burns, the wick draws up pure wax and concentrated essential oils. Because these ingredients burn more gently than synthetic alternatives, a small amount of natural carbon may form at the tip of the wick, creating a delicate “mushroom”.

This is not a defect and does not affect the quality or safety of the candle — it is simply a by-product of using high-quality, natural ingredients.

For an optimal burn, we recommend trimming the wick to approximately 5 mm (¼ inch) before each use, and burning for 2-3 hours max, at a time.
